Mahita has been successful in promoting children’s citizenship and governance throught the formation of Children Clubs. Mahita activities in the Children’s Club includes disseminating information on various child related issues such as Child Rights, Child Labour, Discrimination, QualityEducation and HIV/AIDS. Children Clubs/Bala Sangahs are informal association of Children that are formed in Government Schools and Communities. While these may be seen as a medium toventilate the problems that children encournter, these Bala Sanghas act more as a catalyst for Children’s overall development and Ledership qualified. Children Clubs hold regular discussions with teachers, parents and community members, conducts plays and skits through theatre groups for creating awareness amongst local and government.

Formation and strengthening of Community Child Protection Committees.


Community Level Child Protection Committees have been formed in all Mahita’s working areas.  The CPCs look at issues of children’s safety in their villages / localities, preventing early marriages and migration by maintaining a rapport with the parents of vulnerable children, and playing an active role in the development of the local school. The Community Child Protection Committees are actively functioning and supporting the Bala Sangahs/Child Clubs in their habitations and Schools. Regular capacity building of these committees are helping for ensuring the Child Safety in their areas.
