Foundation & Community Mobilization

Mahita was established in Hyderabad to empower women and children through community organizing and grassroots action. Early initiatives focused on leadership development and collective action.

2005
Expansion
Expansion & Child Labour Elimination

Mahita expanded its work across urban slums and rural communities, leading large-scale child labour elimination initiatives and mainstreaming thousands of children into education.

Advocacy
Policy Advocacy & Systems Strengthening

The organization strengthened child rights advocacy efforts, influenced policy discussions, and built networks with civil society organizations across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

30 Years of Impact

188,899 lives reached. 160,000 children mainstreamed into education. 60,000 youth trained and skilled. 258,507 vaccine doses supported through community health initiatives.

Green Skills Training Initiative

Young people received hands-on training in rooftop solar installation and maintenance, creating pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

Menstrual Hygiene Handbook Launched

A new handbook was introduced to help adolescent girls access accurate menstrual health information and build confidence.

International Women's Day Celebration

Mahita celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring the strength, leadership, and contributions of women from community groups and self-help collectives.

Child Rights Awareness Campaign

Community outreach programmes were conducted to promote child protection, education access, and awareness on preventing child labour, child marriage, and other rights violations.

Youth Skills & Employability Workshop

Young people participated in skill-building and career readiness programmes designed to improve employability, confidence, and access to sustainable livelihood opportunities.
