Child Protection and Governance

Mahita has been successful in promoting children’s citizenship and govrnance through the formation of Children Clubs. Its activities in the clubs include disseminating information on various child-related issues such as child rights, child labour, discrimination, quality education and HIV/AIDS. Children clubs/Bala Sanghas are informal association of children that are formed in government schools.Formation and strengthening of Community Child Protection Committees

Community Level Child Protection Committees (CPCs) have been formed in all Mahita’s working areas. The CPCs look at issues of children’s safety in their villages / localities, preventing early marriages and migration by maintaining a rapport with the parents of vulnerable children, and playing an active role in the development of the local school. They are actively functioning and supporting the Bala Sangahs/Child Clubs in their habitations and does capacity building for ensuring the child safety in their areas.
